Our Instructors

Our team at ChessConnect consists exclusively of local high school students that have had extensive experience with playing Chess in competitive and semi-competitive tournament settings. As passionate Chess players, we aim to share our knowledge of the game with our students, and to introduce this fascinating world to a younger generation.

Alan Song, USCF 2200

Alan Song is a National Chess Master who has played chess competitively for over 6 years. He has also been a teaching assistant at the Wellesley Chinese Language School chess class for over 4 years, and has taught multiple chess classes in the past.


Kevin Liu, USCF 1900

Starting from 4th grade, Kevin Liu has been playing competitive chess for over 4 years, and has obtained multiple tournament wins along with a peak rating of over 1900. He has co-taught a Chess course at the Wellesley Chinese Language School, and also has extensive experience tutoring chess for students of varying ages.

Tianna Wang, USCF 1900

Tianna Wang is the 3rd highest-rated female chess player of her age in America. She started playing at age 7 and has consistently placed in the top 3 for the National Championships. She has also represented the USA in the World Youth Chess Championships 3 times, where she won third place among the best female chess players from all over the world. She has taught both private lessons and group lessons.

At ChessConnect, we aim to provide affordable yet high quality and comprehensive chess instruction for interested young students. ChessConnect classes are designed to be both fun and instructive, with a balance between instruction and practice. By sharing our knowledge with younger students in an effective manner, we aim to foster the next generation of chess players

ChessConnect's teaching staff consists exclusively of experienced and accomplished high-school chess players enthusiastic to share their knowledge of this fascinating game with younger players.
