How will the classes be taught?

Classes will be taught via Zoom; the instructor will share their screen to display a chess board where instruction will take place. Students will also participate in group exercises and friendly matches with their peers.

Will there be any homework?

Moderate homework will be assigned nightly, with some exceptions. In general, instructors will design and assign homework as review of concepts covered in class, and should not be too burdening. Students are welcome to contact instructors if they have questions regarding the homework.

How do I choose the course that best suits my child?

Each course level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) includes a diagnostic questionnaire which students should take to get a feel for their level. Choosing the correct class level is very important!

Is there anything that students should come to class prepared with?

Students should come to class with a learning mindset and possibly a notebook if they want to take notes. Also, students should have a Lichess account and join the Lichess team that corresponds to their class.

What is the structure of a class?

Classes consist of moderate instruction combined with practice to reinforce methods and ideas taught during instruction. Students will play each other either in games or pre-determined positions corresponding to the topic of instruction. ChessConnect classes balance instruction and practice to ensure that students are learning, but not getting bored.

What is the pricing policy of ChessConnect?

ChessConnect classes are priced at a very affordable $15 / 2 hour class, or $7.50 / hour. Payments are made through a one-time transaction via Paypal and are paid per session.
